Re: 9/19 Smart Growth Summit
Dear Friend:
We look forward
to welcoming Robert Gaffney, Thomas Suozzi and
others as our honored guests on September 19th for the
Long Island Smart Growth Summit 2002, and cordially invite
you to join us for this unprecedented full-day event. The Summit
will bring together Long Island’s leadership, representing
nearly 2.8 million residents, to showcase efforts to advance Smart
Growth and Quality Communities throughout the greater region.
It has become
clear that over-development is a driving issue for communities.
Business leaders also recognize that sprawl increases traffic
congestion and contributes to housing shortages, making it difficult
to maintain a qualified workforce. Smart Growth looks to control
sprawl and to properly manage growth while meeting the needs of
our businesses and communities.
The Summit
will highlight the best models nationwide and provide opportunities
for each town to share its successes and engage in productive
dialogue. Nassau and Suffolk County Executives, all Long Island
Town Supervisors, other elected officials, planning and zoning
board members, and municipal staff will attend, as will planning,
engineering, highway and transportation professionals from throughout
the region. Business, non-profit and development leaders from
throughout the region and various parts of the state will also
be involved. Importantly, this is a key opportunity to network
and promote your organization at a regional level.
Please reserve
September 19th for this premier occasion. The event begins at
8:30 AM with networking and educational workshops. Afternoon workshops
will provide opportunities for planning, design and legal professionals
to earn continuing education credits.
Sponsorship
packages are available. Contact us at 631-261-0242 or info@visionlongisland.org
to request more information or to arrange a meeting to discuss
opportunities to make the most of this exciting event. More details
will be available soon.
Thank you
for your time and attention.
Sincerely,

Ron Stein
